Eddie became famous as the lead singer of The O’jays. His passion for music developed at a young age. Therefore, Eddie sang in church, school plays, and regularly performed on a gospel radio show. O’Jays were signed with Philadephia International Records in 1969. Subsequently, Eddie began writing and producing the band’s songs with Williams.

In 1984, Eddie’s two sons (Gerald and Sean) decided to follow in their father’s footsteps in music while still in high school. The two met Marc Gordon and re-encoded their first songs with the group name LeVert. After Gerald’s death, Eddie and Gerald’s album titled Something To Talk About was released in 2007.

In 2008, Sean Levert died from a wrong drug overdose. The same year his father was awarded the Best Duo Image Award. The O’Jays were also awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. So far, the O’Jays have released 10 gold albums and 10 number one hits. Eddie and his bandmates are still touring and performing across the country while Eddie performs as a solo musician.
