Brandon Stanton is probably a household name for you if you know of ‘Humans of New York’, a very popular photojournalistic page on social media sites like Facebook and Instagram. Brandon is the creator and owner of the page that created a movement on social media.

Brandon Stanton was born on March 1, 1984 in Marietta, Georgia, which makes her nationality American. Stanton went to Walker School in 2002, after which he went to the University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in history. In 2010, Stanton bought a camera while working as a bond trader in Chicago. He took some photos of downtown Chicago and when he lost his job he decided to take up photography full time, after which he moved to New York.
Brandon decided to photograph 10,000 New Yorkers as he traced their portraits on the city map. During that time, he survived the paychecks of his friends and family to pay the rent. He started posting those photos on Facebook on the page titled ‘Humans of New York’ in 2010. Initially, it started with a photo of a woman with a quote from her added. Hence, it evolved the trend into photographs with comprehensive interviews with locals in New York City.
He was successful in publishing a book later in 2013, of the same name, Humans of New York and successfully sold around 30,000 copies. It also became number one on the New York Times non-fiction bestseller list. Additionally, Stanton was also named one of Time Magazine’s ’30 Under 30 People Changing The World ‘.
