Andrew Zimmer is an American cooking expert, chef, restaurateur, television personality, radio personality, director, producer, entrepreneur, food critic, journalist, teacher and author. He began his training at the age of 14. In 1992 Zimmern moved to Minnesota, where he joined the Hazelden Treatment Center for the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction, where he now volunteers.
In November 2018, Zimmern opened a Chinese restaurant called ‘Lucky Cricket’, for which he also worked as head chef, in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Zimmern is a married man. the chef is married to Rishia Haas Zimmern whom he met while attending a food college in Minnesota. Rishia was the warehouse keeper of the school kitchen when Andrew met her, soon after, they began to interact with each other and became passionate about spending time together.
Their love was further nurtured for a year as they dated despite the huge age difference between them. On December 16, 2002, they were married in Minneapolis St Paul in a ceremony attended by their family and close friends. Many of their family members missed their nuptials, but they still honored a large homecoming party that was held the following year.
Their marriage has since been blessed with a son; a son born three years after their marriage. Noah Zimmern is his name and his birth further made their union happy. The family of three currently lives in Minnesota.

This is a TV show hosted by Zimmern on the Travel Channel in the United States. Bizarre Foods focuses on regional cuisine from around the world which is generally perceived as disgusting, exotic or quirky. Originally a one-hour documentary entitled Bizarre Foods of Asia, the repeated screenings on the Travel Channel have attracted a consistent and sizable audience. He later decided to turn this documentary into a one-hour show with the same premise and him as the host. In 2009, he took a hiatus from Bizarre Foods to work on a season of the spin-off Bizarre World.
