Adam Kinzinger is an American politician and United States House Representative for the 16th Congressional District of Illinois and is a member of the Republican Party. Kinzinger was first elected to Congress in 2010, winning the election to represent Illinois’ 11th Congressional District.
He was subsequently re-elected to Congress in 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 to represent the 16th Congressional District of Illinois.

ADAM KINZINGER CAREER
While studying at Illinois State University, he competed for election as a county council member in McLean County, Illinois in 1998. He won and became one of the youngest county council members in McLean County history. He served on the board until 2003 when he resigned.

In 2003, Kinzinger joined the United States Air Force and in November 2003 was appointed 2nd Lieutenant. Later he was given pilot wings.
Initially, he was a KC-135 Stratotanker pilot and flew missions in South America, Guam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Subsequently, Kinzinger switched to flying the RC-26 surveillance plane and was sent to Iraq twice.

Adam, in January 2009, met with United States Republican Congressmen Mike Pence, Mark Kirk, and Peter Roskam to discuss a possible candidacy for Congress and chose to run in the 11th Congressional District of Illinois, held by Congressman US Democrat Debbie Halvorson. In May 2009, Adam began campaigning full-time after returning home from his third tour of Iraq.
In early fall, in the 11th congressional district, Adam held eight town halls attended by nearly 2,000 people. Adam was approved by former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin and on February 2, 2010, Kinzinger won the Republican primary with five candidates with 64% of the vote. In the general election, it was approved by the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times and on November 2, 2010, Kinzinger defeated Halvorson by 57% –43%.
In 2014, in the Republican primary, Adam faced David Hale, nurse and founder of the Rockford Tea Party, and Adam won with 78% of the vote.
Later in the general election, he faced Democratic candidate Randall Olsen and Adam won with 71% of the vote.
In 2016, during the Republican primary, Adam won with 100% of the vote and also, not 100% of the vote.
Later in 2018, Adam defeated Democratic challenger Sara Dady with 59.1% of the vote and remained the only Republican to represent a district north of Peoria.
